Controversy Is Where You Hang Your Hat
Daniel Akst’s column, “Yes California, There Really Is a Panacea” (July 30), argues quite forcefully and correctly for condominium ownership. Unfortunately, he subliminally undercuts the argument by referring to single-family housing as “homes.” He states, “OK, people prefer homes.”
The real estate industry may wish to define one form of ownership by the exclusive use of the word home , but those arguing for other forms of ownership should not limit the definition.
Home is where you hang your hat, as the saying goes. If my condo is not my home, what is it?
