Pasadena : City Projects Official Quits

Martin Bovill, Pasadena’s newly hired capital improvement projects administrator, resigned last week after five months on the job.
Bovill, 38, was hired at nearly $80,000 annually to supervise the city’s building projects after cost overruns occurred with the Police Headquarters and the now-vacant Hale Building, which the city plans to eventually use as office space.
Before taking the city job, Bovill worked as an architect and oversaw $300 million in construction for four years for Metropolitan Life Insurance Co. in Los Angeles.
Bovill said he resigned because of differences in operating style that he felt could not be overcome. “The shoe didn’t fit,” he said.
Norman Carter, Bovill’s supervisor, could not be reached for comment.
