A victory by Linford Christie in the 100 meters was among five first-place finishes by British men in the European Cup Track and Field meet at Frankfurt, Germany. Christie was timed in 10.18 seconds.
Also for Britain, Peter Elliott won the 1,500-meters in 3:43.39; Eammon Martin took the 10,000-meters in 28:00.53; Kriss Akabusi won the 400-meter hurdles in 48.39 seconds, and Dalton Grant cleared 7 feet 6 1/2 inches to win the high jump.
The British men scored 58 points, one point ahead of the Soviets in the two-day meet.
