World IN BRIEF : JORDAN : Intervention Sought to Save Jordanians

The government of Jordan appealed for immediate international intervention to save Jordanian nationals sentenced to death by a Kuwaiti court for alleged collaboration with Iraq’s occupation army. It appealed on grounds that the “verdicts are out of proportion with the charges.” At least five of the 13 people sentenced to death so far by Kuwait’s martial law court are Jordanians.
