The manager and a patron of a Sports Arena Boulevard nightclub were wounded after a man pulled out a handgun and began firing during an argument, San Diego police said.
The argument, which turned into a fight, broke out between two patrons about 1:30 a.m. Thursday at The Hype, 3595 Sports Arena Blvd., police spokesman Bill Robinson said. When one of the club’s employees tried to intervene, one of the men pulled a gun and began firing.
The club’s manager, who was not identified, was struck in the chest and buttocks, and a bystander was wounded in the right hand. Both were treated and released at UC San Diego Medical Center, a hospital spokeswoman said.
The gunman fled, and the Police Department’s gang unit was called to investigate, Robinson said.
