South El Monte : Restaurant Dancing OKd
The City Council has decided to allow dancing at El Leon Del Mar, a restaurant at 1955 North Durfee Ave.
The council voted 4 to 0 on May 23 to grant the establishment a public dance license. The permit comes with the same restrictions attached to the restaurant’s food and alcohol license, which the city granted in December.
Because of past arrests at the restaurant and in its parking lot, the city is requiring El Leon Del Mar to hire security guards and to report all police-involved incidents to the City Council within 72 hours. In addition, dancing is limited to five nights a week, and minors are not allowed in the dance area.
