Boy Remains in Critical Condition

An 11-year-old Ventura boy struck by a car Thursday evening remained in critical condition Saturday, authorities said.
Michael Anthony Walsh was injured at 6:55 p.m. Thursday when he was struck by a car driven by Vera Sommerville, 37, of Santa Paula.
Witnesses told police that Sommerville was eastbound on Telephone Road near Cachuma Avenue in Ventura when the boy darted out from the sidewalk into the path of the car.
Michael’s skull and femur were fractured, police said, and he was taken to Ventura County Medical Center, where he underwent surgery.
