‘Why Do Critics Love Those Repellent Movies?’
- Share via
Farber’s opinion that critics are in some way drawn to violent themes is naive. A glance through the March 17 edition would show the varied tastes of his fellow critics. The superlatives fly for both violent and nonviolent themes.
Audiences have always been attracted to violent entertainment. Why? Probably for the same reason that the longest line at the amusement park is for the roller-coaster.
What you are doing, Mr. Farber, is faulting critics for occasionally being human.
