Mayor and Water
The latest revelations about San Diego Mayor Maureen O’Connor’s personal water consumption should come as a surprise to no one. While literally thousands of California jobs and businesses are threatened by the drought, the mayor plays the sleaziest of politics. O’Connor’s apologist, Paul Downey, should be truly embarrassed by his defense of the mayor.
Are we actually expected to applaud O’Connor and her husband for the heroic and absolutely revolutionary act of turning off their sprinkler system when it rains? The writer of the jingle “Don’t be a water hog” must have had Mayor O’Connor in mind.
San Diego needs leadership during this crisis, but the mayor is too busy draining the trough.
