Assessing the Vision of Guber and Peters

Concerning “Sony’s Sunshine Boys,” the March 10 cover story by Nina J. Easton and Alan Citron about Columbia executives Peter Guber and Jon Peters:
I had thought Guber and Peters were filmmakers of vision, like Thalberg or Mayer. But they are not. They are out of tune with working-class people.
Please, gentlemen, give us films that the American public can identify with, characters that depict the human spirit being tested. Many of my friends are fed up with the cardboard characters that Hollywood churns out. Batman and Michael Jackson? Give me a break!
Today George Bush and Norman Schwarzkopf are real people and real men . Maybe Guber/Peters could learn a thing or two from them and put that in a film.
