Walt Hazzard Will Interview for UCI Position

Former UCLA Coach Walt Hazzard will be interviewed for the UC Irvine men’s basketball coaching job, possibly as soon as today, sources close to the search said.
Hazzard, who was fired in 1988 after four seasons at UCLA, is still employed by UCLA, and currently is on loan to the Young Black Scholars program.
His Bruin teams were 77-47, winning the National Invitation Tournament in 1985 and advancing to the second round of the NCAA Tournament in 1987.
Irvine is seeking to name a coach by April 1.
