Semtech Reports Increase in 4th-Quarter Earnings

Semtech Corp., a Newbury Park maker of semiconductors and other electronic components, reported a $412,000 profit for its fiscal fourth quarter ended Feb. 3, compared with a $10,000 profit a year earlier.
The latest earnings came on a 75% jump in Semtech’s revenue, from $4.23 million to $7.39 million, which partly resulted from Semtech’s acquisition of Lambda Semiconductors in October.
For its full fiscal year, however, Semtech’s profit dropped 46%, to $452,000 from $840,000, partly because of a $300,000 charge related to the closing of its Polycore Electronics division. Semtech’s annual revenue rose 18% to $22.2 million from $18.8 million.
