A 38-year-old man was shot to death in Southeast San Diego as he drove away from a party Saturday morning, police said.
Roberto Cuevas-Rodriguez of San Diego and a passenger were heading west on Imperial Avenue at 2 a.m. when a person in a blue and white pickup truck pulled alongside the vehicle and shot at Cuevas-Rodriguez, hitting him in the upper body. Cuevas-Rodriguez was taken to Mercy Hospital, where he died 41 minutes later. The passenger was not hurt in the incident.
Police said the shooting may have been in retaliation for a fight earlier that evening in which the victim had clashed with others at the party, witnesses told police.
No arrests have been made and the investigation is continuing.
