Campbell Hall, Santa Clara to Hit Road for Finals

One area boys’ basketball team will attempt to defend its Southern Section title while another seeks its first, but both will have to win on the road Friday if they are to accomplish their objectives.
Santa Clara, two-time defending section and state champion, faces Verbum Dei in the IV-AA Division final at Cerritos College at 7:30 p.m.
The Saints (24-4) defeated Palo Verde, 61-51, in the semifinals Tuesday and Verbum Dei (17-10) beat Pius X, 87-78.
Campbell Hall (24-4) will face Delphic League rival Brentwood in the V-AA final at 7:30 p.m. at Occidental College in Eagle Rock.
The Vikings, making their first boys’ basketball playoff appearance, edged top-seeded Bishop Diego in the semifinals, 53-51.
Brentwood (17-10), which twice lost to Campbell Hall in the regular season, defeated Brethren Christian, 65-40.
Brentwood entered the playoffs as a wild-card team.
