COLLEGE BASKETBALL ROUNDUP : Antelope Valley Rallies as Rider Gets Hot, 87-81

Antelope Valley College, which trailed at halftime by seven points, rallied to beat visiting Barstow, 87-81, in a Foothill Conference men’s basketball game Wednesday night.
J. R. Rider scored 31 points and had 16 rebounds for Antelope Valley. Rider was 12 of 18 from the field and blocked three shots.
In another men’s game:
Occidental 95, Pomona-Pitzer 92--Brett Dennis scored 20 points and Sandy Brown added 19 to lead Occidental (7-5) in an SCIAC opener at Occidental.
WOMEN
Canyons 65, Grossmont 58--Canyons’ front-line starters combined for 50 points. Forwards Shannon Solway and DeeDee Hinson scored 17 and 16 points and center Kim Posey added 17 and nine rebounds.
