Tri-City Medical Center has hired its onetime controller to be chief executive officer, replacing Richard A. Hachten, who has accepted a position in Omaha.
Leon W. Hooper will join the Oceanside medical center Jan. 1. Hachten’s last day will be Jan. 18.
Hooper is regional vice president for Healthtrust Inc., a 104-hospital chain made up of hospitals purchased from Hospital Corp. of America, for which he had previously worked. Hooper was controller for Tri-City from 1965-70.
Hachten resigned from Tri-City on Nov. 17, amid criticism from some board members. He will become president and chief executive officer of Archbishop Bergen Mercy Hospital in Omaha.
