THE SIDELINES : Pub Absolved in Moroso Death

RALEIGH, N.C. — The pub where Rob Moroso drank beer before his fatal accident Sept. 30 is not to blame for the wreck that killed the rookie NASCAR driver and another person, the state Alcohol Law Enforcement division said today.
The department said in a written statement that it found no evidence of irresponsible service by any establishment visited by the 22-year-old Moroso the night of the accident.
Woody’s, a restaurant and bar near Cornelius, was the last place Moroso was seen after the NASCAR Winston Cup Holly Farms 400 race in North Wilkesboro, officials said.
According to the North Carolina Highway Patrol, Moroso was driving in excess of 75 m.p.h. down a state highway near Mooresville when he lost control of the car on a curve and slid into the path of an oncoming car. Tammy Williams, 27, was killed when her car was struck by Moroso’s.
