GIRLS’ BASKETBALL ROUNDUP : Sunny Hills Holds On to Beat Jurupa Valley

Beth McLean had 11 points and Shanda Gidley 10 to lead Sunny Hills to a 40-37 victory over Jurupa Valley in a first-round game at the Century tournament Wednesday. Sunny Hills led, 23-12, at halftime.

Sonora 34, Century 32 (2 OT)--J. Fister scored a basket with eight seconds left in the second overtime. Donna Dio had 12 points to lead Sonora.

Corona del Mar 42, Santa Ana Valley 21--Heather Flaherty had 16 points and Tahlis Wagner had 10 for Corona del Mar.

Capistrano Valley Christian 52, Villa Park 41--Elainie Kollias scored a game-high 25 points for CVC. Mickey Trollinger scored 17 to lead Villa Park (1-1).

In nonleague play:

Huntington Beach 103, Saddleback 28--Five players scored in double figures and all 12 Oilers had at least one point at Huntington Beach. Deanna Itow led the Oilers (4-2) with 20.
