PRO FOOTBALL REPORT : WEEKDAY UPDATE : AROUND THE NFL : Giants in Playoffs Despite Loss to Eagles
- Share via
Despite losing in Philadelphia Sunday, the New York Giants became the first team to clinch an NFL playoff berth this season.
The NFL announced that the Giants (10-1), who could have clinched the NFC East title had they beaten the Eagles, were guaranteed at least a wild-card berth.
The worst they could finish is 10-6 with a conference record of 8-4. That would be better than the rest of the NFC teams with six losses.
San Francisco (10-1) remains one win away from clinching at least a wild-card berth because they conceiveably could lose a tiebreaker with New Orleans.
A Tampa, Fla., radio personality, Jason Dixon, is vowing to stay atop a billboard near Interstate 275 until the Tampa Bay Buccaneers break a losing streak that has grown to six games.
Dixon, of WFLZ-FM, began his stay on Nov. 21, expecting to climb down after Sunday’s game against the Green Bay Packers.
However, a 20-10 loss to the Packers means he’ll remain on a 6-by-10-foot platform at least until Sunday, when the Buccaneers play the Atlanta Falcons in Tampa Stadium.
Dixon, an on-air personality and morning show producer, is not without some of the comforts of home. A radio, television, Nintendo game and sleeping bag are among the items he has with him.
