Boise Cascade Expects to Break Even: Officials at the Boise, Ida.-based wood products company said a weakening market for paper, pulp and corrugated containers, expansion costs and higher interest rates will reduce Boise Cascade’s profitability during the final three months of 1990. In a statement, the corporation predicted that “results for the fourth quarter of 1990 to be close to break even,” compared to earnings of 27 cents per share in the third quarter. A break-even quarter would leave the company with just over $70 million in net income for 1990. That compares to $267.6 million in 1989, $289.1 million in 1988 and $183 million in 1987.
