A Browse Through Shining History

The Ventura Antiques Show & Sale will offer enthusiasts a chance to browse through a large variety of merchandise offered by more than 70 dealers, Friday through Sunday at the Ventura County Fairgrounds.

On exhibit will be one of the country’s largest cut-glass collections. Featured are pieces from the American Brilliant period (1890-1910).

“This is the period American craftsmen flourished and were among the leaders in the cut-glass business. Some of the patterns are very intricate and very rare,” show producer Sylvia Miller said.

Also, if you have a treasured glassware piece marred by chips, take it to the “glass doctor,” Wayne Montano.

“Wayne is one of the tops in the field,” Miller said.

Admission is $4 and free return privileges are offered. The show hours are noon to 9 p.m. Friday; noon to 7 p.m. Saturday; and noon to 5 p.m. Sunday. The show will be held in the agricultural building at the fairgrounds, 10 W. Harbor Blvd., Ventura. A variety of foods and refreshments will be available. Parking is free.
