Nets Lose 33rd in a Row on the Road

SEATTLE — The New Jersey Nets broke the NBA record for consecutive road defeats with 33 in a row in a 105-88 loss to the Seattle SuperSonics Tuesday night.
The old record was 32 set by Baltimore in 1953-54, although the record for losses in a row in a season is 28, held by several teams.
The Nets, who last won on the road Dec. 19 in Miami, trailed by four at halftime. But Sedale Threatt scored nine points and Xavier McDaniel eight in a 23-9 spurt as Seattle opened a 71-53 lead with 4:42 left in the third quarter. New Jersey never got closer than six the rest of the way.
McDaniel led the Sonics with 35 points and Threatt had 22. Reggie Theus topped the Nets with 29.
