Police arrested a Simi Valley high school teacher Thursday on suspicion of annoying a 16-year-old boy last summer, officials said.
John Burns, 40, was released from Ventura County Jail about 2:30 p.m. Thursday after he posted $500 bail, said Sgt. Ray Nagel of the Ventura County Sheriff’s Department.
Simi Valley Police Department detectives began an investigation Oct. 24 after reports that Burns had allegedly made improper sexual advances to the boy in August, said Lt. Neal Rein of the department.
They arrested Burns at Simi Valley High School about noon Thursday, Rein said.
Allan Jacobs, Simi Valley Unified School District superintendent, said Thursday night that he had not been notified of the arrest.
