Hughes Unit to Stay in Torrance: Hughes Aircraft will keep its Electron Dynamics division in Torrance, rejecting an option that it had considered of relocating the 1,200-employee operation to another state. Division Manager Ronald A. Forbess said the cost of transferring employees and equipment, coupled with the disruption of the operation, were key factors in the decision to stay. Forbess said financial assistance offered by the City of Torrance and the state Commerce Department also were important considerations.
