Superior Industries Posts 25% Profit Rise

Superior Industries International Inc., citing growing demand for its aluminum wheels, said its third-quarter profit jumped 25% from a year earlier on a 27% gain in sales.
Superior, a Van Nuys-based producer of wheels and other products for General Motors Corp., Ford Motor Co. and Chrysler Corp., said net income in the quarter that ended Sept. 30 climbed to $3.77 million from $3.02 million a year earlier. Its sales rose to $67.9 million from $53.5 million.
For the first nine months of 1990, Superior’s profit was up 6%, to $11.9 million from $11.2 million, and its nine-month sales rose 11%, to $206.2 million from $185.2 million.
