World and Olympic marathon champion Rosa Mota of Portugal broke away from Norway’s Grete Waitz to win the 10-kilometer Great London Run.
Waitz, a nine-time winner of the New York Marathon, ran shoulder-to-shoulder with Mota for the first 4 kilometers. But the race favorite broke away to win by 250 yards in 32 minutes 49 seconds.
