WORLD IN BRIEF : COLOMBIA : Cocaine Laboratory Explosion Kills 8

A huge explosion ripped through a cocaine laboratory in Colombia’s drug capital of Medellin, killing at least eight people--including three children--wounding 25 and destroying a dozen houses, police said. Dynamite was stored in the house where the laboratory was located, police said, and the crater resulting from the blast was about 20 feet deep. The house was near a large supermarket and only a few blocks from the headquarters of the army brigade spearheading the war on drug traffickers.
