Athletes Are Entertainers, Not Millionaire Jerks
- Share via
In a recent letter, athletes who charge for autographs were called first-class jerks, millionaires whose salaries are wholly dependent on the average, moderate-income working person.
First of all, it’s not as if these athletes never sign autographs free. They do, and all of the time. But there are thousands of fans who aren’t fortunate enough to meet their favorite athletes to ask them for an autograph. Card shows give them that opportunity.
Another thing, professional athletes are not overpaid jerks. They are entertainers who fulfill our need to be entertained.
If the letter writer will take a little boy to a ballgame, she would see.
