Ciddie May Tyson; 108-Year-Old Homemaker

Ciddie May Tyson, who was a member of the United Methodist Women and a longtime Van Nuys resident, has died in Granada Hills. She was 108.
Born Ciddie May Martin, she died Tuesday at Magnolia Gardens Convalescent Hospital of natural causes, said her daughter, Ciddie Mae Taylor.
The Nashville, Tenn., native married Frank H. Tyson Sr. in 1907. He died in 1949. Mrs. Tyson and her family moved to California in 1936 and settled in Van Nuys. They joined the Reseda Methodist Church, where Mrs. Tyson served as a member of the United Methodist Women, a service-oriented organization which raises money for Methodist missions around the world.
She is survived by her daughter, Ciddie Mae Taylor of Frazier Park; a son, Frank Tyson Jr. of Murietta, Ga.; a brother, Gerald Martin of Malvern, Ark.; 11 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren and five great-great-grandchildren.
A funeral service will be held Tuesday at 1 p.m. at Bastian and Perrott Mortuary in Northridge, which handled arrangements. Burial will be at Oakwood Memorial Park in Chatsworth. Donations can be made in Mrs. Tyson’s name to the memorial fund at Reseda Methodist Church.
