Mets-Dodgers matchups, the Angels’ finale at the oldest stadium in the majors, the Little League World Series and the start of the college football season highlight this weekend’s sports television viewing choices.

In what now can be credibly considered a possible National League Championship Series preview, the still-surprising and still-surging Dodgers play host to the New York Mets at 12:15 p.m. today on Channels 2 and 8. Sunday’s game will be televised by superstation WWOR at 1 p.m., but blacked out by cable systems within a 35-mile radius of downtown Los Angeles under Federal Communications Commission regulations.

The Angels bid their farewell to Chicago’s Comiskey Park with games against the White Sox at 4 p.m. today and 11:30 a.m. Sunday on KTLA Channel 5. A new stadium adjacent to Comiskey Park will open next year.

An Orange County baseball team that has fared far better than the Angels have this year can be seen today on Channels 7, 3 and 42 at 4 p.m. and Channel 10 at 3 p.m. Little Leaguers from Cypress face Shippensburg, Pa., for the American championship at the Little League World Series. ESPN plans on showing the Championship Game on a delayed basis at 2:30 p.m. Sunday. Lending a major league atmosphere to the games are Brent Musburger and Jim Palmer, who will call both contests.

The inaugural Disneyland Pigskin Classic tops the non-baseball events. Colorado and Tennessee, both 11-1 last season and legitimate national championship contenders this season, meet at noon Sunday at Anaheim Stadium, with Channels 4, 36 and 39 providing live coverage.
