OXNARD : Day-Care Operator Loses Her License
- Share via
The operator of an Oxnard day-care home has lost her state license after investigators accused her husband of molesting a child in her care.
According to records released by the state Department of Social Services earlier this month, Owen Jones was accused of sexually abusing an 8-year-old girl in January. He also told a 2-year-old witness that he would cut off her finger if she told anyone about the crime, Ventura County Deputy Dist. Atty. Tricia Koenig said Tuesday.
At the time, the girls were in the care of Susan Jones, who ran a day-care home at 339 Maple St. in Oxnard.
A warrant was issued for Jones’ arrest, but the couple and their two daughters disappeared in late January, Koenig said. Officials suspect that they are in Canada.
