IBM’s New Feature--Compatibility: For the first time, International Business Machines Corp. plans to make its new family of high-end mainframe computers compatible with existing mainframes so users can upgrade their current machines. The world’s largest computer maker, based in Armonk, N.Y., is expected to unveil its new generation of mainframes, which will be compatible with its current 3090 Model J mainframes, sometime this fall.
