A La Mesa man charged with videotaping sex scenes with teen-agers and molesting some of them waived his right Monday to a preliminary hearing.
Michael Tobin, 51, was bound over to San Diego Superior Court, where a trial date will be set Aug. 27.
Boys and girls aged 14 to 16 had been scheduled to testify at the preliminary hearing this week in San Diego Municipal Court.
Tobin is charged with 48 counts of performing lewd acts, oral copulation with minors and sexual exploitation related to the videotaping.
He was a volunteer worker at Juvenile Hall before his arrest April 14. There was no evidence that he recruited videotape participants at his place of work, authorities said.
Tobin remains free on a $100,000 bail bond.
