Erin Fleming, one-time companion of the late comedian Groucho Marx, was arrested after walking into a sheriff’s station with a loaded .357 Magnum revolver in her purse, authorities said today.
Fleming, 48, walked into the West Hollywood sheriff’s station at 720 N. San Vicente Blvd. carrying a large handbag at about 11 p.m. Tuesday, sheriff’s Deputy Chris Wahla said.
“As she spoke with station deputies, she placed the handbag on the counter,” Wahla said. “Visible within the handbag was a 2 1/2-inch stainless steel revolver which, after inspection, was found to be loaded.”
Fleming was arrested on suspicion of carrying a concealed loaded firearm in a public place. She was released on her promise to appear in Beverly Hills Municipal Court for arraignment July 6.
“A computer check revealed that the handgun was registered to her,” Wahla said.
Fleming was a companion to the late comedian Groucho Marx and was a beneficiary of his estate.
Deputies would not say why Fleming went to the station.
