In assessing the meteoric political rise of Alberto Fujimori in Peru, Gustavo Gorriti mentions that properties of Peruvian-Japanese were looted during World War II (Op-Ed Page, April 16). There is a little known chapter in the history of Fujimori’s community which explains how that could have happened. During World War II, the U.S. FBI supervised the roundup of innocent Peruvian-Japanese who were forcibly brought to Crystal City, Tex., and placed in an interment camp.
