CALIFORNIA IN BRIEF : MOUNTAIN VIEW : Earthquake Aid Deadline Extended
- Share via
The application period for state and federal disaster assistance to earthquake victims has been extended until May 12 because of the series of aftershocks Wednesday, assistance officials announced. This will allow those who suffered losses from Wednesday’s aftershocks to file for assistance, and will allow victims of last year’s Bay Area earthquake to amend their applications if they suffered additional losses. People who have already applied for assistance need not apply again if they suffered no new damage from this week’s aftershocks, officials said. Application for assistance may be made by calling a toll-free hot line, 1 (800) 462-9029, from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Saturday.
