Sting Makes Environmental Hall of Fame: Rock star and human rights activist Sting became the only musician on the “save-the-planet” band wagon to make Rolling Stone’s environmental Hall of Fame in its upcoming Earth Day issue. Sting was commended for founding and supporting the Rainforest Organization, which is dedicated to saving the Amazon and the native tribes who have lived there for thousands of years. Landing at the other end of the spectrum on Rolling Stone’s environmental Hall of Shame were Kenny Rogers and Bob Hope. Rogers was blasted for supporting the Los Angeles-based Summit Cement Co., which has sought to dump U.S. toxic waste on Grand Bahama Island, the magazine said. Hope was criticized for his move to sell 7,400 acres of his property in the Santa Monica Mountains to developers who want to build large homes and golf courses.
