The judges of the Harbor Municipal Court have announced the appointment of Richard L. Fredrickson as court commissioner.
Fredrickson, 55, has served 10 years as an Orange County deputy district attorney. He succeeds Commissioner Robert Gallivan, who was recently appointed to a judgeship at West Orange Municipal Court. Fredrickson is scheduled to begin hearing cases this week.
“It’s an exciting change,” Fredrickson said. “Maybe it’s time to put something back in the community. The function you serve as court commissioner is attempting to reach a just society.”
As a court commissioner, Fredrickson will have duties similar to a judge’s. He will hear civil, traffic and small-claims cases.
Fredrickson has been a trial lawyer in Orange County for 18 years.
