Nation IN BRIEF : MASSACHUSETTS : Grand Jury Calls Stuart’s Brother
- Share via
Matthew Stuart, who implicated his brother in the sensational killing of his brother’s pregnant wife in Boston last Oct. 23, appeared before a grand jury, but it was not known if he testified. In the incident, Carol Stuart was shot to death and her husband Charles was shot and wounded as they sat in their car. Their son was delivered by Caesarean section that night, but he died 17 days later. Charles Stuart blamed the attack on a black man, and racial tensions flared as police searched for the suspect. On Jan. 4, after authorities named Charles Stuart as the prime suspect, he killed himself by jumping into Boston Harbor. Matthew Stuart has told police he unwittingly helped his brother dispose of the murder weapon in a river.
