The Los Angeles Times has been named the “Newspaper for the ‘90s” in a survey conducted by the Washington Journalism Review, a magazine that covers the nation’s media.
The Times received 15.4% of the magazine readers’ votes for best newspaper for the 1990s in the sixth-annual “Best in the Business” awards poll. The New York Times gained 12.7% of the 450 votes cast, while USA Today pulled in 9.1% in the new category, said Laura Danowski, a spokeswoman for the monthly magazine.
The award for The Times was among 12 print and broadcast awards presented Thursday evening at the National Press Club in Washington.
