“The Kennedys of Massachusetts,” a three-part miniseries about the family whose lives played such a prominent role in the nation’s politics, unfolds this week on ABC.
The six-hour production airs from 9 to 11 p.m. Sunday, Monday and Wednesday. It is based on Doris Kearns Goodwin’s book, “The Fitzgeralds and the Kennedys.”
William Petersen plays bespectacled young Harvard freshman Joe Kennedy, who as the story begins in 1906, is courting Rose Fitzgerald (Annette O’Toole), the daughter of Boston mayor John Francis Fitzgerald.
The story follows their triumphs and tragedies, culminating with son John F. Kennedy’s inauguration as President of the United States.
