Phoenix-based Del Webb Corp., one of the nation’s biggest developers of active-adult communities, has purchased 1,570 acres in Riverside County and plans to build about 6,000 homes for people aged 55 or over.
The site is near the intersection of Interstate 10 and Washington Street, in the unincorporated area of the county.
The new community will include single-family homes and townhouses, as well as an 18-hole golf course, arts-and-crafts studios and meeting rooms. It will also include commercial buildings and several places of worship.
The company plans to begin construction and sales in 1991. Completion of the project is expected to take about 10 years.
