Band Director Wins Composition Contest

Richard Meyer, orchestra and band director for the Pasadena Unified School District, has won the 1989 National School Orchestra Assn. Composition Contest. Meyer will receive $500 for his work, “Celebration!”
Meyer is orchestra and band director at Eliot Middle School and conductor of the Pasadena Youth Symphony Orchestra for junior high students. The purpose of the contest is to encourage composition, publication and performance of music of artistic quality for the benefit of school orchestras.
