Outfielder Danny Tartabull reached agreement with the Kansas City Royals on a one-year contract for $1.65 million, avoiding an arbitration hearing. Tartabull, a holdout in spring training last year, had sought $1.735 million. The Royals had offered $1.285 million. The right fielder made $1.035 million last year.
Tartabull hit .268 with 18 home runs and 62 RBIs in 133 games.
