A robber stole $700 Thursday from a Grossmont Bank branch in Hillcrest, police reported.
Witnesses told police that a man walked into the bank in the 3700 block of 5th Avenue about 11:30 a.m. and demanded that the teller give him all her $100 bills, said San Diego Police Department spokesman Bill Robinson.
The teller gave the man $700, Robinson said. The robber was last seen walking south on 5th Avenue. Robinson said the man was described as black, about 5-foot-8 and about 170 pounds. He wore a red and blue sports jacket.
