GIRLS’ BASKETBALL ROUNDUP : La Quinta Clinches Garden Grove Title

Amy Jalewalia scored 36 points to lead La Quinta High School to a 57-29 victory over Los Amigos Wednesday in a Garden Grove League girls’ basketball game at Los Amigos.
It was the 53rd consecutive league victory for the Aztecs (22-2, 13-0 in the league). The victory also clinched La Quinta’s ninth consecutive league title.
Jalewalia scored 26 of the Aztecs’ final 30 points and had all 13 of her team’s points in the fourth quarter.
Tanya Krill scored 12 points and Heather Brannan nine for La Quinta. May Ly scored nine points for Los Amigos (10-12, 5-8).
In another Garden Grove League game:
Kennedy 81, Garden Grove 68--Valerie Ruiz had 27 points, including five three-pointers, and Michelle Harris had 21 points as Kennedy (13-10, 9-4) clinched a Southern Section playoff berth. Melonie Deer had 26 points and Chris Bazzel had 20 points for Garden Grove (11-9, 7-6).
