ANAHEIM — Three pins helped Canyon High School clinch its 10th consecutive Century League dual meet wrestling title Tuesday night at Canyon.
Pins by David Cha (126 pounds), Jason Mitchell (138) and Matt Padgett (154) led Canyon to a 40-14 victory over El Modena. Canyon, the No. 1-ranked team in the county, is 13-0 overall, 5-0 in league. El Modena, ranked No. 2, is 7-1, 4-1.
The teams will meet again at 3 p.m. Friday in the Century League finals at Canyon High.
“This was one of the great Canyon matches,” Canyon Coach Gary Bowden said. “The kids were really focused on their objectives; they knew what they wanted to do and they did it.”
El Modena Coach Alan Clinton said, “We didn’t get pins when we should have and Canyon beat us on close matches. Canyon was well-prepared, they pretty well zipped us.”
