Space Defense Shield ‘Makes Much More Sense,’ Bush Says

LIVERMORE, Calif. — President Bush visited a Strategic Defense Initiative research lab today and declared that a missile defense shield in space “makes much more sense than ever before.”
Bush made the pitch for Star Wars in a speech to what he called the “under-appreciated” staff at Lawrence Livermore National Laboratories, the nerve center of both the Star Wars research effort and nuclear weapons work.
