PITTSBURGH — A money bag inside an armored truck shifted and struck the deadbolt lock of the vehicle’s back door today, causing it to open and spill 16 bags containing $320,000 onto a downtown street.
The Loomis Armored Inc. vehicle was on its way to the Federal Reserve Bank in Cleveland when the incident occurred about 7 a.m. Guard Robert Hutchison said people who saw the spill offered to help pick up the bags, which each contained $16,000 in $1 bills. He said he pulled his gun to prevent theft.
