Dano Halsall of Switzerland beat the highly rated American duo of Matt Biondi and Tom Jager in the men’s 50-meter freestyle at the Paris International swimming meet.
Halsall finished in 22.11 seconds, five-hundredths of a second faster than Biondi, who made up ground from his poor start but couldn’t quite catch up.
Jager was third in 22.28.
